TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., June 22, 2011 -- Earlier this
month, a team from Midwest Card & ID
Solutions participated in a large sandbagging effort just
outside of Kansas City, Missouri, in anticipation of the impending
Missouri River flood.
Brenden Ourth, Adam Sherwood, Gary Williams and John Sholey
spent June 6-8 tagging and tracking volunteers in Parkville,
Missouri, who had shown up for the massive preventative task. Over
the course of the three long days, the Midwest Card team
successfully accounted for 1,710 volunteers, business owners, and
First Responders.
Utilizing Salamander Technologies' interTRAX® suite of products,
the team set up two complete RapidTAG™ stations to create hard-card
IDs; used COMMAND™ with three mobile units at incident command;
employed one copy of MOBILE Express™ to track individuals down to
the ICS assignment level; and worked closely with the IC staff,
using the new CNIP product, to produce a 23-page incident action
plan. Midwest Card also handed the Mayor of Parkville a 266-page
report at the end of the event.
"It was a great feeling to assist our community and provide a
solution that met all of their identification and accountability
needs," Ourth said. "The incident went over so well that we have
already attended a second sandbagging event using the Salamander
system. The Deputy Emergency Manager for the county told the local
authorities that if you want accountability done right, you have to
call Midwest Card! It was a great way to demonstrate the product
and prove its capabilities during a real event."
